Damian's 5 Fan Fiction Links

Food Fight at Arkham

This is a story about what the inmates do during their dinner time in Gotham City's own prison known as Arkham Asylum. It focuses mostly on Harvey Dent (aka Two-Face) and how he dislikes interacting with the other inmates during meal times - especially when it comes to The Riddler's annoying riddles.

One thing I would criticize about this fan fiction piece is that the title is a bit misleading. It's called "Food Fight at Arkham" but the food fight does not occur until the very end of the piece. The majority of the piece is mostly about the inmates trying to solve The Riddler's riddles.

There are also some grammatical mistakes here and there that need to be fixed. For example, it says "Harvey didn't mind the Riddler to much" when it should have said "Harvey didn't mind the Riddler too much". There's also the spelling or "originaly" when it should be spelt "originally" instead.

Planet of the Apes and the Forbidden Zone

This fan fiction is set in the future many years after the events of the original movie. It sees an Orangutan teacher telling her students a piece of Ape history. In her History lesson, she talks about the moments after Taylor (the main character in the original movie) discovers the Statue of Liberty.

This was an intriguing and well written fan fiction. I loved the way the characters were written as they stayed true to their on-screen counterparts. The chimpanzees wanted the Forbidden Zone (the place where the Statue of Liberty was buried) to be preserved. But the other apes like the Gorillas want the place destroyed as they do not want any evidence that humans once ruled the world.

After much discussion, the chimpanzees have their way and the place is preserved as a piece of history so they can study Earth's history. It had a nice ending too as the author reveals that the teacher is speaking to human children.

I loved the ending as in the films, humans are depicted as evolutionary inferior to the apes and are treat them like scum. This shows that the apes and humans made a truce and are loving amongst one another as equals. It kept me guessing what was going to happen as in the 2nd film the world just blew up and everyone died. This has a much better ending...

Changing Perspectives - A Short Spider-Man Fan Fiction

This was a small and humorous story about J. Jonah Jameson wanting some new photos of Spider-Man from a "different perspective". The Daily Bugle owner is tired of Peter Parker taking similar looking pictures of Spider-Man and demands something new to be printed for his newspaper.

I really liked how the author stayed true to the character of J. Jonah Jameson. Much like he is in the comics and the movies, he's a real pain to Peter Parker and always wants the best pictures from him regarding Spider-Man. It's humourous to read as Spider-Man fans know that Peter Parker takes pictures of himself so it will be hard for him to get "different perspectives" of himself.

The ending was unpredicatable too. Not only did Peter Parker get the photos he wanted, but he also showed that Spider-Man was a good photographer too. This made sense as would conceal his true identity if he showed that Spider-Man took a picture of Peter Parker.

Blue Dragon - Jealous

A very short story about all the male Blue Dragon characters falling in love with the beautiful Kluke. One of the characters (named Andropov) devises a masterful plan to persuade the other male characters to fall in love with other people so that he can have Kluke all to himself.

The one thing I would criticize about this particular fan fiction piece is that it fails to have an introduction to introduce the characters. Blue Dragon is an anime/video game but it's not as famous as say Batman, so people would't have an idea who the characters are. It also ended rather abruptly as Andropov didn't get Kluke in the end as another character got her instead. There's was no argument or bickering in the end so it seems as if the author left Andropov with nothing despite all his efforts to woo Kluke.

Terminator TSCC Fan Fiction - Jealousy

This is a fan fiction based on the characters from the short-lived TV show, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It follows the female Terminator called Cameron and her decision whether or not to kill a human being responsible for building a smart machine that can take over the world.

It's a very short story, but it's a great scene taken from the actual TV show itself. I loved the way he made Cameron have no dialogue since the character rarely speaks in the actual show. It also has a good ending as it leaves the reader guessing if she killed he target or not. It would have been nice if the story was a little longer as details were too brief in my opinion.

  1. I like the character Cameron very much in this show. Theoretically, as a machine Cameron is a cold blood product, don’t have feelings. But she was in love with John and even sacrificed herself at the end. I love the scene she was broken and tried to kill John at the park. Anyway, although the name of this show is Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I like Cameron more than Sarah.
